Roots and Origins
Los Celtas was born in the mid-1990s when Gonzalo, a Galician who had just arrived in Madrid, decided to open a small establishment with a clear vision: to create a space where people would feel as comfortable as they do in their own homes. He named it “Los Celtas” (The Celts) to honor his northern roots and the spirit of community he always wanted to share.
From the very beginning, the bar became a hub for the neighborhood a place where families, neighbors, and local workers gathered to enjoy a beer, talk about their day, and share traditional tapas.
Tradition Meets Today Over the years, we have evolved without losing our essence. Today, Los Celtas maintains that warm and friendly atmosphere that defines us. We blend the authenticity of a traditional bar with a careful selection of beers, wines, and shared dishes that never go out of style.
A Place for Everyone Our customers are as diverse as Hortaleza itself. On any given day, you’ll find generations of neighbors who have been coming here for decades sitting alongside young people who have discovered the charm of an informal, authentic place.
Our Story
Los Celtas is more than just a bar, it is a story deeply rooted in Madrid’s everyday life. Founded in the 1990s, Los Celtas was created with the idea of offering a place where people could feel comfortable, welcome, and at home from the very first moment. What began as a traditional neighborhood bar has remained true to its origins while naturally becoming a reference point for those who value authenticity, good company, and simple pleasures done right.
Behind Los Celtas is a small, dedicated team with a genuine passion for hospitality and Madrid’s bar culture. From the beginning, the focus has always been on people rather than trends. The bar has been built day by day through personal relationships, familiar faces, and the kind of service where guests are remembered, conversations matter, and everyone is treated with the same warmth. Over the years, Los Celtas has witnessed friendships forming, reunions taking place, and countless everyday moments that have shaped its identity.
The mission of Los Celtas is to preserve the essence of a true Madrid bar. It stands for honesty, tradition, and quality without pretension. Here, drinks are enjoyed without rush, and homemade food is prepared with care and respect for classic recipes. The values of Los Celtas are reflected in its welcoming atmosphere, its commitment to authenticity, and its belief that a bar should be a place where people naturally connect and feel part of a community.
Los Celtas welcomes a diverse public. Locals stop by after work for a cold beer, friends gather around the table to share food and laughter, and visitors discover a side of Madrid that goes beyond tourist spots. No matter where you come from, the bar offers a relaxed, friendly environment where everyone feels at ease and included.
Located in the heart of Madrid, Los Celtas is closely connected to the rhythm of the city and its neighborhood. It is easy to find, hard to forget, and even harder not to return to. In a city that never stops moving, Los Celtas remains a place where time slows down and simple moments turn into lasting memories.
At its core, Los Celtas is not just a bar you visit once. It is a place you come back to, a familiar corner of Madrid where there is always a seat at the bar, a warm welcome, and another story waiting to be shared.
